A Simple Guide to Making Matcha at Home
STEP ONE
Gather all the right tools and prepare your space for your matcha ritual. You will need a bowl, bamboo whisk, teaspoon measurement, and a sifter.
STEP TWO
Using your measurement, place one teaspoon of matcha into the sifter and begin to sift over your matcha bowl. This will ensure a smooth final product. Then, pour in 2 oz. of water heated to 180° F or you can use 1/4 cup of hot water but never boiling.
STEP THREE
With your bamboo whisk begin to move in a zig-zag motion until you reach a froth with small bubbles. Be sure to whisk thoroughly until all the matcha powder has dissolved and there are no clumps.
STEP FOUR
You now have your matcha shot and you can pour it directly into a glass over ice and your favorite milk of choice or into a mug of steamed milk for a latte. If you like it sweet you can add your sweetener into your matcha bowl and whisk until it has been well incorporated and then pour directly into a glass.
